We are working on that article

This was debuted at the CES in Las Vegas this year. At the time the targeted age range was higher. If the age is too low, they will not understand how to ‘code’ the device and if older, they might get bored. The overall concept is incredible but seems to be aimed at the younger targeted age. My daughter is 5 and could not wait to get this. She loves electronics and computers. It is very easy to get out of the box and get running. Please note it arrives in demo mode and you will need to turn the switch under it to get it to go. It also arrived with batteries in it. She played with it for a bit. She then took it apart to see how it worked with each piece. Each piece goes a different direction. It also had two pads that you are supposed to ‘code’ the device and start it on green and end it on red. The con of this device is room. You really need hard floors which I have. I also have a decent size area to play and it still was not enough. Once it starts and if it does not have enough room, it stops. Keep in mind it does not reverse, it only goes straight and turns. We tried the start and end and changed the pieces out. It did not have enough room to navigate through the ‘code’ it needs to make wide turns if you have all of the pieces connected. We kept moving it around and it still did not seem to have enough room. My daughter became rather frustrated and did not want to play with it anymore. For the older age range, the kids might get frustrated. For the younger, they might not understand how it works and think it is just a toy that moves. For the price point I did expect more from this. Again, the amount of room this requires is a lot! I was looking forward to buying the extra pieces but immediately decided not to since it means it will need more room to turn with more pieces on it. That is not a selling point for me but a reason not to buy it. There is only the start button at the top get the toy going. I wish it had a volume control, even low and high, but it doesn’t. If you are prone to headaches, the sounds this makes might annoy you. When storing you will need to find an area to store the red and green pieces if you want to code it. I love Fisher Price and think this is a good idea but perhaps it needs more thought. A reverse would be nice or to know to turn if it does not have room to move, which seems like a lot. Right now it seems like an overpriced caterpillar that just moves.
